Type I Fun Finder: Ski Recommendation Model
Our forecast for the weekend, boiled down to a recommendation: where to go, and when, for the kind of day you want. The name is a working title.

How it works
- Hard gates first. A place is ruled out, with the reason shown, when it is too far, has too little terrain above your minimum elevation, has a pass closure likely, or (in backcountry mode) has High or Extreme avalanche danger or no avalanche forecast. Resort and nordic modes show avalanche danger as a note instead.
- Then a weighted score. Fresh snow, snow quality (snow-to-liquid ratio), wind, visibility and cloud, vertical, drive time and road reliability are each scored 0 to 1 and averaged with the weights you set.
- Where the data will come from: the National Blend of Models for snow, snow level and wind at each area, NWAC avalanche forecasts, WSDOT pass conditions, and drive times worked out ahead of time. None of that is connected yet.
- Checking itself: once real data flows, we will score its past picks against what was observed, the way the forecast evaluation scores our snowfall ranges.
Still to decide
Which areas and parking spots belong in each mode (the list is a first draft), how to weigh each factor for powder, touring and resort days, and a corn mode for spring.
